MotionGIF Editor's Review

One day I tried to create a simple GIF animation, so I started searching for a tool which allowed me to do this. I found Motion GIF and was more than satisfied with it. It takes a bit getting used to the user interface, but in my opinion it's worth your while. The program can only save GIF animations, but it also has an "export" feature which allows you to embed the animated images into HTML web pages.

You have 6 cliparts which you can use in your animations. These cliparts are imported from a special library file, distributed along with this application. You can add new items to the library by copying any image to the Windows Clipboard and pasting it into the collection. The user interface also displays a floatable "Frame List" window, which allows you to view all the frames of your animation. This window doesn't support drag-and-drop, but you can move frames by right clicking on them and selecting "Move" from the menu.

The window on the middle displays the currently selected frame of the animation. You can edit it by double clicking. The application opens a new editor window, which offers some basic tools for drawing shapes, lines, or dots. You can also use this window to convert the frame to grayscale, to rotate it, or to adjust its brightness, contrast, and hue levels.

Pluses: Once you edit your first animation frame, you can apply animation effects. The program automatically generates new frames, in order to create the new animation. Many effects are available, including fade, wipe, blinds, or box.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: Motion GIF is a useful tool for anyone who needs to create simple animations.
